Artist Description

This photo was taken on the second day of hiking the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu with my two brothers a few years ago. This was early in the morning shortly after sunrise.

That morning, we woke up to a layer of melting snow on our tents from the below freezing temperatures overnight. We were so cold from packing up our frozen gear that we decided to start hiking up the mountain until the sun came out to warm us up, then we would stop to make breakfast. We were warm enough when we reached the top of this valley and I turned around and saw this beautiful mountain range behind us, and I had to capture it. We decided to stop here, making our coffee and eggs and taking in the amazing view.
