Artist Description

Although it's hard to tell, this photo was taken part of the way up my climb of Kilimanjaro. You can see the glaciers on the peak in the top left side of the image. I summited with my brother in 2019 via the Machame route. The mountain is normally cloudy at night so in the entire trip there was only one night with clear skies. We were finished dinner and exploring camp when it started to get dark. Looking up, the stars slowly started to reveal themselves. I've never seen anything like the sky I saw that night. I didn't have a tripod for my camera so I used a rock pile to point the camera up at the milky way. My brother's headlamp lit up our tent against the dark background giving a nice focus point with a backdrop of the milky way.
